Pink Evening Primrose

The pix I’ve collected in researching the dainty flower.

As I researched I took notes on size of leaves, buds, growth pattern (in the wild). Opens in morning in south Tx. Size of pollinator the white-lined sphinx.

Studying the pink evening primrose or the buttercup and its pollinator… I’ve been collecting plants and just happened to have a caterpillar on one of them. No caterpillars were harmed in making the video. He hung out with me for the day and I placed him back in the area I found it… Hyles lineata, white lined sphinx is the beginning of a Hummingbird moth. Watch for videos that show color, painting tiny stems and color mix formulas for this plant.

Pink Evening Primrose, 9x12”, watercolor. I found some interesting facts on this plant. It grows from underground rhizomes and seeds. Stops flowering when there is no moisture provided but drought tolerant. Vigorous growth, so planting in your garden isn’t recommended; you and your neighbor will be dealing with it. Better suited for a meadow with short grass like a coastal bermuda. It is a beautiful flower! I found the wooly worms by mine. Pollinator - Salt Marsh moth.
